Collaboration with F1RST
Delphi in unique drive for diversity in business
Talent can be found everywhere, but not opportunities. Enter F1RST, a unique cooperation between academia, business and civil society designed to match talent with opportunities and create new career paths for young students with experiences and backgrounds that are under-represented on C-level positions in business.
Delphi is a part of F1RST’s family & friends, a selected number of partners that includes blue-chip financial institutions such as Goldman Sachs, EQT, Nordea and SEB. Delphi’s contribution to F1RST is to create meetings that can give young students a spark of inspiration and a first-hand experience of meeting professionals in a business law firm.
Karin Roberts, Counsel and in charge of Delphi’s cooperation with F1RST, tells the story:
– Over the past five years, we have organized and participated in events for motivated students who have grown up in so-called socio-economically challenged neighborhoods. Originally, these activities were arranged together with the network formerly known as Ung Talang. Our homework workshops, case events and company visits have been appreciated by students and by us here at Delphi. This fall, we are once again inviting students through F1RST to a case event at Delphi. An event like this is for many students their first meeting with a law firm, where they get to discuss actual cases with experienced lawyers, judges, prosecutors, and legal counsels.
Diversity delivered
Delphi has a long-term commitment to increase diversity and equality within the legal profession, partly through external cooperation with initiatives like F1RST and partly through development of Delphi’s corporate culture.
– Among the finest acknowledgements of what Delphi is trying to achieve – for diversity in general and for these students specifically – are the participants who have applied to law school simply because they got to experience a case event at Delphi.
This fall’s case event is the first drive in the Delphi – F1RST cooperation. Organizers are Karin Roberts and Matilda Karlsson, Senior Associate.
Through the F1RST initiative, Daniel Sachs Foundation and The Stockholm School of Economics together with several prominent financial institutions and Delphi as the sole business law firm, will increase diversity at business schools and within business. With support, networking, and inspiring activities, F1RST helps more young people from neighborhoods with lower educational attainment to take their first steps toward a prosperous career in business and finance.
